Pondicherry University is a central university in Puducherry, India. Founded in 1985 by the Government of India, the university is acollegiate university with a jurisdiction spread over the Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
It has 35,000 students in its 87 affiliated colleges including 27,000 students in the distance education mode. The current strength of students studying on-campus stands at 6,500. It has introduced innovations like the Choice-based Credit System and on-line admission for postgraduate studies. Pondicherry University is ranked as one of the top ten Universities in India based on the survey conducted on 2013
Campus of Pondicherry University –
The University has three campuses. The Main Campus is located at Puducherry and the other two off-campuses at Karaikal and Port Blair. The main campus of the University has an area of 780 acres spread on either side of the East Coast Road with the large chunk on the landward side of the road.

The main responsibilities of the placement cell are to motivate, train and prepare the students of the university and its affiliated colleges for campus interviews. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the university to provide ample opportunities to students to get proper placement in industries and companies, the placement cell conducts workshops, mock interviews and organizes on-campus selection process with the help of industries. About 1000 students are getting this benefit every year.
