Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University (MPBOU) famously know as Bhoj University christened on the name of illustrious King Bhoj, a great patron of learning. Established in 1991 under an Act of State Assembly, with the concept that distance education is an important medium for the development and promotion of higher education. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC, of India and the Distance Education Council, DEC, Government of India. A member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the university got functional in 1996.

Bhoj University conducts easily accessible and quality higher education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system.
